A00043 - George Floyd Revisited

It has been two years since the death of George Floyd.  In that two year period of time, more information about the Minneapolis Police Department has become available.

Sadly, most folks probably have little interest in these findings since we have "moved on" to bigger issues such as the War in Ukraine and the latest senseless act of violence in Uvalde, Texas. I fully understand the prominence of these major concerns but I still have equally major concerns about the Minneapolis findings and the findings that have occurred in other cities which demonstrate the long pattern of racial discrimination perpetrated by the police.  These concerns have been heightened by my viewing of a new HBO mini-series entitled "We Own The City"

which highlights the years long pattern of racial discrimination in the city of Baltimore and the resulting consent decree that was entered into by the City

Yes, there are major issues that need to be addressed.  Climate change, COVID, the War in Ukraine, Abortion Rights, rampant inflation, and gun control are all major issues that confront this country right now.  However, it is my perception that the need to address the social issues that were highlighted by the murder of George Floyd continue to be important ... especially for those millions of Americans that reside in cities where the patterns of racial discrimination continue to exist.
