A00140 - The Greatest Women's College Basketball Game of All Time and the Greatest Woman Basketball Player of All Time
The last day of Women's History Month has produced what is arguably the Greatest Women's College Basketball Game of All Time. The David-sized Iowa Hawkeyes defeated the Goliath-sized South Carolina Gamecocks 77 to 73 behind the 41 point wizardry of Caitlin Clark.
The best women basketball player I ever saw was Cheryl Miller.
I was there when she led her Riverside team to the California High School State Championship in 1982. At 6'2" she was a marvel. She was lightning quick and had a deadly shot. Heck, the wunderkind even one upped the great Wilt Chamberlain by scoring 105 points in a single game. She was great in high school and she was great in college leading USC to back to back NCAA championships. Only banged up knees prevented her from becoming the all-time greatest. However, tonight, Caitlin Clark made a statement that she may ultimately be a contender for the title of the best woman basketball player that I have ever seen. She too is a marvel.
Wow!
