A00255 - Peter Higgs, the "God Particle", The Unknown Universe and Matter with a Negative Mass
I noted with astounding interest the passing of Peter Higgs, the Nobel Prize recipient for the discovery of the so-called "God-Particle".

I had astounding interest because based on my rudimentary knowledge the Higgs Boson is not a universal "God Particle" but rather a particle which appears to be fundamental to our understanding of the five percent of the universe that we can see and feel

It is unknown what role such a particle may have on the 95 percent of the universe which we cannot see. Additionally, we have no idea of its role in the composition and interactions of dark matter
nor of its role in the creation of dark energy
Indeed, we do not even know why there is an absence of anti-matter in our universe.
So, it seems to me that until we better understand what comprises 95 percent of the universe, it may be premature to call anything the "God Particle".

P.S. In another coincidence that "sparks" my curiosity, the Wednesday, April 10, message from my 2024 "This Day in Science" Calendar reports that in 2017 a fluid with negative mass was created. The message reads: "Researchers at Washington State University successfully produced a liquid with negative mass. Just as electricity can hold either a positive or negative charge, it has long been theorized that mass is capable of the same. Through a process where rubidium atoms were supercooled and then agitated by various lasers, physicists proved the theory to be true. The resulting rubidium "superfluid" behaves unlike any material known to humans: when you push it, it accelerates toward you. While practical applications are currently limited, the research provides great insight into astrophysical anomalies."
Dark Matter, Dark Energy, Antimatter and Negative Matter -- components of a marvelous universe that I cannot see, I cannot feel, and I cannot pretend to understand... at least not in this time or form.
