A00434 - Must See TV for the Month of October 2025: PBS: NOVA: Human: Origins

 Although it is more than half over, I highly recommend the PBS offering of NOVA focusing on Human: Origins



One of the surprising revelations is not that we are part Neanderthal, but that many of us are part Denisovan


Until last night, I had never heard of the Denisovans.  Now, I am wondering if I have some Denisovan DNA.

Intriguing!

A00370 - 2024 Jenkins Family Update

2024 was a year of significant highlights.  However, the theme for the year just might be "The Year of Reconciliation" or put another way, "The Return of Sparkle." My Music: A00019 - Irene Cara, R. I. P. The year of events began with my return to the Philippines and by spending Martin Luther King's Birthday (January 15) on Siargao Island.  Siargao is known for its surfing and, while I do not surf, I made a special point of visiting the surfing Mecca known as Cloud Nine just to be grateful for being "Free at Last".  My Music: A00061 - Cloud 9 on MLK Day Later on, I spent some quiet time on the beach of the Siargao Beach Club where I had a nice conversation with God.  A00229 - A Day at the Beach with God I do not think that God is done with me yet.   March is Women's History Month Women's History Month - Wikipedia and on March 11, Ramadan began Ramadan (calendar month) - Wikipedia Ramadan was the time when it was hoped that the Israel-Hamas War would be paused for humanitarian reasons  Israel–Hamas war - Wikipedia but it was not.  In a previous email (see below), I discuss the legacy of the 1948 Deir Yassin Massacre which gave rise to the Nakba. Sadly, the 75th-year anniversary of the Nakba has predictably proven to be woefully tragic. As a student of history, I sense that the result of this latest episode of the Nakba will not bring peace but will produce a generation of young Palestinians who are committed to resist.
